Vedanta Group firm Hindustan Zinc Ltd. on Wednesday said it has marked an agreement with Gujarat government to set up a greenfield zinc smelter in the state.

The task will involve a speculation of up to Rs 10,000 crore.

“HZL…signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government of Gujarat to set up 300 KTPA (kilo tons per annum) greenfield zinc smelter at Doswada, GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation),” the announcement said. The new office – the first for Hindustan Zinc in Gujarat – will be set up with zero release innovation and will be among the least cost smelters on the planet.
